4/19 Meeting Recap

At our last meeting:
1. Material:
Chapter 3 "Is Your Sex Life Healthy?" Yes you're reading this right. I'm blushing as I'm typing this right now. Ears getting hot, cheeks red, GEEZ LOUISE! Chapter 3 is a HOT topic. Although many Christian couples have difficulty discussing sex with each other, the Bible has a lot to say about it. In 1 Corinthians 7:3-5, Paul gives many key points about having a healthy sexual relationship in our marriage. We also went over Song of Songs in the Bible to read verses that went over marital intimacy.

Thanks to the Gery's for leading this chapter.

There is a spaghetti dinner at church earlier that evening so we may have a few late comers for those attending this activity but keeping the date and changing the time made the most sense for the largest number of people. This will be a no kids event and will turn into an after party at our house. Of course infants are welcome (Cade & Reagan). We will have everyone bring some kind of munchie or drink.
6/24 - Robin & Andy's baby shower. This will also be a no kids event. It will be at the Eaton's and is a Luau theme.

4/6 Meeting Recap

At our last meeting:
1. Material:
Chapter 2. Your personal walk with God needs to be strong to ensure that spiritual intimacy with your spouse is possible. We went over ways we could be consistent with our quiet time with God. The best way to unite spiritually is to share out of the overflow of what God is doing and saying in our individual quiet times. We talked about the importance of praying together. It requires trust, a willingness to bare all to God, and discretion in sharing with one another. We need to commit to pray together with our spouse for our marriage. Also ask your spouse "How can I pray for you today?" Our 30 day action plan for spiritual intimacy is to commit to personal quiet time with God, couple prayer time, and praying for each other.

The Gery's will be leading Chapter 3.

2. Meetings:
Next meeting is Wednesday April 19.

3. Social Activities:
4/20 - Madelyn's 4th Birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's at 6:00pm.

5/6 - Angie & Roy's baby shower. This will be a no kids event and will turn into an after party at our house. More details to follow.
Still need to schedule an IKEA trip and a trip to the drive-in theater.

3/23 Meeting Recap

At our last meeting:
1. Material:
Chapter 2. "Where are you with God right now?" When was the last time or have you ever asked your spouse this question? It is unbelievably encouraging to have the love of your life keenly interested in the health of your soul. In this chapter, we looked up many bible verses to see what blessings we receive when we stand firm in our faith. It stressed the importance of not having just surface banter in our religion. Instead of just focusing our time on the "usual activities" of church, we should focus on the relationship and become more like Christ. If you want to have an extraordinary marriage, the first priority is seeking and knowing God the Creator of marriage individually.

2. Meetings:
Next meeting is Thursday April 6th.

3. Social Activities:
4/8 - Andrew's 4th Birthday party at River Legacy Park at 4:30pm.
4/20 - Madelyn's 4th Birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's at 6:00pm.
4/22 - Maria's 4th/Mikel's 1st Birthday parth at the Dixons at ??pm.
5/6 - Angie & Roy's baby shower. This will be a no kids event and will turn into an after party at our house. More details to follow.
Still need to schedule an IKEA trip and a trip to the drive-in theater.

3/7 Meeting RECAP

At our last meeting:
1. Material:
We discussed the importance of having a plan for our marriage. We also went over areas of improvement for growth in our marriages. God can do more for our marriages than we can ever imagine. Even though we each have strengths and weaknesses individually in our marriages, we are blessed to know that God can use our strengths together to impact His work.

Thanks to the Gery's for leading this first chapter. Good Job! It was very interesting to see what type of animal personalities people had. It will also be interesting if the lion shows up in his lion costume to the next meeting. Remember our 30 day action plan is to have weekly dates. We will be leading the next chapter on March 23.

2. Meetings:
Next meeting is Thursday March 23.

3.Social Activities:
Nothing else in March due to everyone being pretty busy/vacations.
We have 3 children's birthday parties in April: Andrew's on the 8th, Maddy's on the 20th, and Maria/Mikel's on the 22nd. More details to follow.
On May 6th: baby shower for Angie & Roy. This will be a no kids event and will turn into an after party at our house. More details to follow.
Still need to schedule an IKEA trip and a trip to the drive-in theater.

The trip to see Pastor Scott was a huge success. He was so surprised to see us and we had a wonderful time. We had a great turnout, eight families if I recall right. Those who didn't go, the Woodlands is a beautiful place to visit. There is a lot to do and see. I will be posting pics soon.

NAME CHANGE

We are now officially the P.O.S.C. There was some confusion with our old name the G.R.O.U.P. No one knew we were affiliated and were a part of the original P.O.S.C. And the G.R.O.U.P. acronym didn't really say what we really were either. We are still coming up with ideas to differentiate between the two, but for now we will use the Eaton's POSC and the Gery's POSC. By the way the Gery's were kind enough to become our new leaders. I will still handle the emails, blogs, and social events to take the load off of them, but they will be our voice.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Grown-up night for the POSC and GROUP:
When: Saturday February 4th at 6:30pm at Chris & Becky's
Details: We're going with a Mexican theme and Chris is cooking fajitas. Everyone is to bring a side dish, drink, or whatever. It should be a lot of fun and I hope everyone can attend. Comment if you have any questions.
- (Completed - this was a lot of fun. Thanks everyone for attending and thanks Becky & Chris for hosting this event. We will have to do this more often.)

GROUP meeting:
When: Thursday February 9th at 7:00pm.
I checked the childcare board and we are listed so lets pray someone shows up this time. We will choose a new curriculum and have everyone buy their books by the next meeting in March. - (Completed - see notes above for the meeting recap.)

Valentine's Dinner Saturday:
When: Saturday February 11th
Art & I are doing this and I think a lot of the POSC is also. Time slots are staggered so I don't know if there will be much social time but I heard that last years was very nice. You will enjoy a romantic meal with your spouse and childcare is provided. The cost is $45 per couple. Sign up at church if you are interested. - (Completed - this was very romantic. We enjoyed this very much and will do it again next year.)

Go visit Pastor Scott at his new church:
When: the weekend of March 4th and 5th
The POSC is also doing this. Let me know if you are interested in attending. We will travel down Saturday, get a hotel, let the kids swim, maybe go to dinner, then church the next day, possibly lunch with Pastor Scott and his family then head home at a decent time. This should be a lot of fun and remember it is a surprise. More details to come. - (Completed - this was super fun. I can't wait to go back.)
